JackieO earrings

Jun 21st 2023

A pair of one-of-a-kind earrings commissioned by Aristotle Onassis for his wife, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, to commemorate the moon landing in 1969. The earrings were designed by Lalaounis and feature a swirl representing the moon's orbit, a chain of beads inspired by the Lunar Module, and a ball with rubies hammered to replicate the moon's cratered surface. Onassis presented the earrings to Jackie for her 40th birthday. The earrings remained a prized piece of Jackie's collection until they were sold in her 1996 estate sale.
